Martijn Beijk is one of our experts in Local Search Optimization, Mapping services and Mobile Marketing.
In December 2006, I started working as a software developer at Onetomarket,. With my technical background and still attending lectures at the University for Applied Sciences I found this a great opportunity to gain relevant working experience. Not only was I developing programming code, but found myself to getting more and more interested in online marketing and search engine optimization in particular. At an early stage, at both University and Onetomarket, I developed a great interest in the importance of location and mapping services. This interest only grew stronger during my internship, which I chose to do at a different company; the Netherlands institute for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), where I learned a lot about context-awareness, location-based services, Semantic Web technologies, personalization, ubiquitous computing, mobility, and a great deal of usability. I am able to apply all this knowledge into my projects at Onetomarket, specializing in Local Search Optimization and mobile marketing. I currently work in Barcelona, which is one of our two offices in Spain. The opportunity to work in an international environment and actually moving to Barcelona was a whole new challenge. Learning a new language, in a different cultural environment is part of the process. Apart from the online media landscape, I like to swim, travel and I am a big fan of drum & bass music; I love to spin some tunes either at home, or occasionally in a club. Inspired by music and great events, I am part of the Basic Base organization on a voluntary basis maintaining their website and PR.
